Susan WheatleyBamba arrived at BARC 2.5 years ago as a Rehab case having gone lame just before our PetPlans and the diagnosis was a mystery. He was going to need extensive work in hand & ridden as part of his veterinary rehab plan. Moving him to BARC so Megan and her experienced team could liaise with the vets and work as a cohesive team has played a large part in giving me my horse back when things looked bleak. He is now back competing in BD and is jumping and enjoying cross country schooling again. It is thanks to the team at Bournefield that I preserved and that we are now back at the level we were.
We enjoyed our time at Bournefield so much that we made the transition from a rehab livery and stayed on as a competition livery. This gave me piece of mind that he was being kept a close eye on, even when I was flat out at work as a Doctor. I have not had to worry that Bamba would not get 5* care. |
Bamba loves the staff a Bournefield. The take him on fun hacks, jump him and manage his quirks as a pink skinned horse that likes to sunbathe! They are reliable about slathering him in sun cream in the Summer and looking after his mud fever during the Winter. This year is the first time in a few years where I haven’t had the vet out due to mud fever despite the wet weather.
I will be sad to leave BARC. The team have been a big part of my life but I am leaving to move Bamba to our new home as I realise a childhood dream of having a home with my own stables and fields. It is not goodbye to Bournefield as we plan on sneaking into the clinics and activities and Megan is likely to find Bamba in a stable when it is holiday time! |
